Below are images of Bill’s carbon road frame in process. Basically what I’ve done so far is to miter and tack all the tubes together making sure that everything comes out nice and straight. Once this is done there is no going back to make it straight so time is well spent at this stage making sure everything is perfect. The next step will be to build epoxy fillets on each of the joints to be wrapped so there is a smooth radius in order to avoid crimping the fibers once they are applied. After the fillets I’ll wrap the joints and cure them. Laying up the fiber laminate is the most time consuming part of the build but if done correctly there is little finish work. With the addition of cable guides once the frame is cured it will be ready for paint.
