I have’t posted anything on the blog this week because I’ve been out of town for a couple days. My buddy Miles got a TPLO surgery on both knees Wednesday. I can’t belive he’s crusing around so soon. Hopefully he’ll be looking just as good once the opiate patch is taken off in a couple days days. The docs said, let him walk, just don’t let him run.

We had the surgery done at the Sun Valley Animal Center in Idaho because the Doctor was so highly recommended. The upside to that was I got to see my good friend and former apprentice Erik and stop by his shop Alliance Bicycles.  We had dinner at the Powerhouse Pub, talk about a cool restaurant. It was 100% bike themed. The whole Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey area is beautiful and full of great MTB riding. I’m looking forward to returning when I have more time and  can do some riding.

Hopefully we can make our 15 minimum in each category (short sleeve, long sleeve and bottoms). The way I set this up is that the orders go straight to Voler. I don’t make a penny on the sales, I just facilitate them. I’m hoping that participation from all of you will allow us to make the minimums and we can all get a kit without a large outlay of money and a need to stock a bunch of inventory. Also, remember there is a July 9th deadline so if you plan to purchase anything be sure to do so before then.

Next year will be Strong Frames Inc’s 20th anniversary.  So Loretta and I have been working on a limited edition 20th anniversary bike. It will  reflect what I’ve learned over the last 20 years and focus on the areas of craftsmanship, material and design that most represent our brand. It will also include a few very special additional items that will really set it apart from anything I’ve ever done before. There will only be 20 made and they will go on sale for a limited time just prior to the 2013 NAHBS. As we near the sales window I will start to reveal more info. When we start taking orders, all the details along with a gallery of the sample bike will be posted on our site. More to come!

The way this works is that you will order directly online at a Strong Frames team portal on Voler’s site, right here: http://www.voler.com/custom/ordering/li/2569 . This link will take you to a gateway page that looks generic but it is only for Strong Frames apparel.

From there you can click on the green box that reads  ”Add Items to this Order” and you will be taken to a page with pictures of each item on which you can click to purchase.

Once you click on the item you will be taken to that items page where you can choose size and depending on item, other options. The “Production Notes” field is not applicable to our order.

Once you have selected the items that you want, you can click “Checkout” and create an account. You will then be able to pay for your items and shipping . Your order will be shipped directly to you from Voler. Orders will ship the week of 8/27/2012, just in time for Cycloross season

I’ve got 6 steel frames in a row to build. This is Nick’s Custom Blend steel road frame. He just happens to be coming to Bozeman in early July so I want to make sure he can pick it up and take it with him.

The temp shop is really working out nicely and the flow is good. It’s set up a bit different from the last shop and has given me an opportunity to try a few things before I move to the final shop.
