Extralite Blend for Jason

May 31st, 2011

Below are images of Jason’s Extralite steel frame. It’s a blend of True Temper S3 and Columbus Life. It also features an InSet headtube. We’ll be using an Enve 2.0 tapered fork with the new Chris King mixed taper 44mm bore headset. I’ll be handing it over to Paul today for a liquid paint job. Jason has a really cool paint design I’m looking forward to posting when complete.

Malcolm’s Titanium Road

May 27th, 2011

Things have been sailing along really nicely. The phone hasn’t been ringing much and I’m actually a day ahead of schedule. This frame isĀ  Malcolm’s road frame. It’s a Custom Blend titanium with a InSet headtube and Press Fit 30 Bottom bracket. I’ll be finishing it up today and starting Jason S’s Extralite Blend steel road frame. After Jason is Tim L, Anderson W, Bill F, and Darryl B. I’ve also got five frames getting a satin finish (titanium) or painted and just about ready for assembly. I’ll post pictures of them as soon as they are ready.

Eduardo’s Titanium Cross Frame

May 25th, 2011

I didn’t get as far as I wanted on this frame yesterday. I think I ate something a little tainted and wasn’t very good most of the day. I figured I’d do Edwardo a favor and wait until I was better before I welded the rear of the frame. So far the front is done and the rear is all fit and ready to go. At 8:00 this morning I’ll start welding and should have the frame done and ready for paint this afternoon.

Finally got Dropouts!

May 24th, 2011

I’ve been in a bit of a holding pattern for the last couple weeks waiting for titanium dropouts. While I waited for the dropouts, rather than sitting around I jumped ahead and built a few frames down the queue and also mitered the titanium frames that were waiting for dropouts and welded several front triangles together. Now that the dropouts are here and with all the work that I did while I waited things are starting to happen pretty fast. Bill C’s titanium road frame is done, I finished Marius’s titanium 29er MTB yesterday and will be finishing up Eduardo’s titanium Cyclocross today. I’ve also got Malcolm’s frame mitered and ready to go. So now I’m back in sequence and building one at a time from start to finish. Below is Marius’s titanium 29er.

Tejay in the Tour of California

May 17th, 2011

As many of you know, Tejay Van Garderen is a Bozeman kid (man now) who’s Dad I have known for 20 years and we raced together on the same team for many of them. I watched Tejay grow up and he’s even worked at Strong Frames in the past. Tejay now races for HTC-Highroad and his career as a pro cyclist is really progressing nicely. He’s a contender in the Tour of California and I thought is would be fun to share some of the press that’s out there. He may also be racing in the Tour De France for the first time this year and we’re all very excited about that. Links to a few articles are below, the ESPN article is really well done. I’ll post more as I see them.
