Mark’s Titanium Road

November 29th, 2010

Back to work after a long four day Thanksgiving weekend. I enjoyed my time off but I’m ready to build some frames. When I left on Wed. I was just about done with Mark’s frame. Today I’ll finish it up, we have his parts on order and we should have it assembled and ready to ship late in the week. Next up is John F. and then on to Mike W. and Steve M.

It’s Official!

November 22nd, 2010

Well it’s finally official. Strong Frames Inc. in addition to steel and titanium frames is now offering carbon fiber frames. I’ve added an information page as well as a short tour and pricing to my site. It can all be seen right here; http://strongframes.com/frames_&_pricing/carbon/. Frame pricing includes fork, BB bearings, headset and Seatmast topper.

It’s been a long time coming. I’ve spent over two years developing material, process’s and techniques and I’m very proud of the results. Take a look at the tour and check back because I have a bunch of frames out to paint and as they trickle back I’ll be posting pictures.

Price reduction on sample frame

November 19th, 2010

SOLD

I’m selling the frameset that I used for photos when we launched “Carl’s Personal Blend”. It’s been for a sale for a while and usually these sale frames go pretty quickly. I’ve lowered the price on the frame and fork to $1500. Normal price including the custom color, decals and headbadge on thisis $2525. It’s ready to ship so if your looking for a very nice, versatile road/cross frame and this fits, it’s your lucky day.

You can see another image and the spec sheet here: http://www.strongframes.com/frames_&_pricing/proshop/

Ross’s Ti 29er

November 18th, 2010

Today I’m finishing up a geared titanium 29er for Ross. It’s a race bike that will be used for cross country and endurance races. It’s light and durable and will be a lot of fun to ride. It’s been a couple months since I built a titanium MTB and I forgot how much goes into getting the stays bent and all the clearance issues worked out. This frame also has a very short headtube and required a lot of relief on the toptube to make everything work. Today I’ll put on all the small parts and a chin gusset to back up the bottom of the headtube and then we’ll be ready to machine and blast.

Building with carbon fiber

November 16th, 2010

For anyone who’s interested there is a really cool thread on Vsalon right now by Nick Crumpton illustrating his carbon fiber frame building process. You can see it here.  He leaves out some of the more technical details but for the most part the entire process can be seen. Nick is one of the two carbon experts that I turned to when I started working with carbon and he’s been incredibly generous and helpful. Thanks to Nick and Jared (JW Engineering) I’m just a couple days from adding carbon frames to my price list. Currently I’m finishing up the web pages that explain my process (very similar to Nicks) and a tour of carbon frame building. When the new section is up, hopefully by Friday I’ll post a link here and invite everyone to visit.
