Getting What You Want

February 9th, 2010

I’ve just added the first of three new pages I’ve been working on. You can see the page, “Getting What You Want”  here. It’s a brief description of the methodology I use in designing frames remotely with customers over the phone. The next page to post will be “How To Choose Frame Material”. I’ve finished the first draft and should be done soon. The third new page will  be called “Carbon Fiber Frame Construction” and it’s started but still a couple months out. I’ll be launching it along with carbon frame pricing and an image gallery this Summer.

Boxes O’ Parts

February 8th, 2010

So this week is the week all the parts for show bikes should finally be in house. We’ll spend this week assembling the bikes and taking pictures of them. I’ll also post images and description along with prices for the two that are going to be for sale. We’ll also be mocking up our booth and making sure everything fits and works. Ideally it all ships to Richmond next Wed so we need to be ready to go.

David S. Road Frame

February 5th, 2010

Here is a frame I’m just finishing up for David S. of CA. It’s a Road Race frame that is designed to be quite stiff. We are using OX Plat on the front and Columbus Life in the rear. The tube specs are 1.25″ for the TT and 1.375″ for the DT. We’ve also used internal brake cable routing and a front derailleur hanger. The F/D hangers seem to be getting more popular these days due to the limited options available for derailleurs with the correct clamp size or after market clamps made for braze on style derailleurs. This bike is also getting a really cool paint job so we’re excited about getting it back from Spectrum.

For Sale 2010 NAHBS Bikes

February 3rd, 2010

We’ll be spending this week and next getting together three complete bikes for NAHBS. Typically we would just use customer frames that were being completed around the time of the show. This year I decided not to do that because I wanted to have complete control over what the bikes were and what was hung on them. I felt it was important that they represented what I as a builder believe is the best combination of  elements. There will be one carbon cross which we won’t be selling and a titanium road bike and Extralite steel road bike. I’ll be posting the two road bikes for sale as soon as they are together. They will both have Edge 2.0 forks painted to match and Sram Red build kits. The titanium frame will have Edge wheels, bars, stem and post. The Extralite will have DT Swiss 1450 Mon Chasseral wheels and Ritchey WCS carbon bar, stem and post. As soon as they post they will be available to buy but of course the new owner cannot take delivery until after the show. I’ve posted designs below so you can see if they are in your size range. I’ll post pricing and build lists along with the images as soon as they are ready. The pricing will be aggressive and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

Also pictured is David’s sweet 29er. Sometimes depending on the proportions the lines on bike really look great. I think the shape of this frame is really sleek.

Paul’s 29er

February 2nd, 2010

Here are a couple pictures of Paul’s 29″ MTB. It’s built around an F100. I used primarily True Temper OX Platinum tubes along with the True Temper S-Bend 29er Seatstays and Chainstays. It’s got a 23.75″ TT and the ST is 15″ so it’s long and low. The geometry is cross country oriented. I should be finishing it today and will post more pictures tomorrow.

Next up will be a steel road bike for Dave S of  CA and then I’ll be starting Ed’s titanium coupler frame.
