Loretta will be out of town all week. Her youngest sister just had her first baby and she went down to AZ to help around the house. She’ll be back in the shop next week and will be checking in from the road. If you’ve been working with her on any billing, shipping or office related stuff just contact me instead and if we need to I’ll call her. Otherwise it’s business as usual. This week I’ll be building Dan P’s steel road frame and Paul C’s steel cross frames. I’ll start posting pictures of progress on them tomorrow. Lots of peopleJanuary 7th, 2010
I was looking around yesterday and could have sworn I was thrown back to an earlier day when I had a bunch of employees. Of course Loretta was here, she was working on year-end stuff along with a professional bookkeeper we use Karen. Karen does 1099’s, payroll and year end stuff getting everything ready for our accountant. Also Erik (my apprentice) was here disassembling our cold saw and getting it all cleaned up and dialed in. Something that’s nice to do from time to time. Bill was assembling bikes and I was building frames. All together there were five of us in the shop pretty much all day. For a so called “one man” shop that’s a lot of people I can’t live without. I don’t know if there is much of point other than to say that while the majority of the time I may be here alone, in no way could I do this all alone. Without a doubt Loretta is the glue that holds this operation together but it takes the whole team to keep everything running smoothly.
Build Schedule UpdateJanuary 6th, 2010
I thought I’d give a quick rundown of what’s gong on here at the shop. The holidays always seem to break the rhythm around here and getting ready for NAHBS doesn’t help. So far I have two of three show bikes done and ready to go. I have one more to build and some displays. Ill be spending weekends on that. As for customer frames Peter M. is done and being assembled, it ships to Australia today or tomorrow. Lori R. is built and will be finished and ready for assembly Friday. Lori is one of the few local customers I have so she’ll be picking her bike up here. I’m also getting another “mystery” customers frame back from paint today, the parts are in and we’ll start assembling it once we finish Peters bike. “Mystery” customer should go out Friday. I’m starting to build Glen V’s frame today. Once it’s done I’ll start Dan P’s frame. Also Friday is a big design day. I missed several Fridays during the holidays so I’ll be playing catch up this Friday. If you have a frame in the design phase expect to hear from me this Friday. 30mm Clamps in stockJanuary 4th, 2010
