Eric W’s frame at paint

A while back I posted some pictures of Eric’s frame during the build along with the paint scheme he’s designed. Spectrum has since posted the work on their site and I thought I’d post a link here so anyone interested could see the process. Below is the design and here is a link to the work:

Absolutely spot on. Eric’s gotta be happy with that. Good job all round.

Wow! Looks better that the virtual rendition.
Could have interesting handling- according to Spectrum it has a carpet fiber fork!
Question about the painting process- is the frame powder coated or is it wet paint? If it is wet, can Spectrum match any colors wet to powder?

  3. Eric says:

Russell ~ You bet I am! Can’t wait till I get it fixed up… :D

MikeU~ “Wow! Looks better that the virtual rendition.”

If it doesn’t… then we have a serious problem.

    Eric,

Hi Mike, Eric’s bike is liquid painted. We have had Spectrum Powder Coat frames and then match liquid on the forks. For most colors they get it right on but there are some exceptions. It’s also difficult for them to do if the clear is a semi-gloss or matte rather than a gloss.

  6. Eric says:

Hi Carl, Wow… I was actually thinking of getting the black part done in Matte finish but seems like all gloss is a good decision after all.

    Eric.

  7. Kenneth says:

Hi Carl, awesome work! What is the deal with the extended seat tube up to the saddle? It looks cool but does it serve another purpose?

  8. Carl says:

The primary reason is good looks. It also allows for a shorter seatpost and in some cases it can save a tiny bit of weight.

  9. Eric says:

Kenneth ~ Just for good looks *LOL*… I wanted something different, that’s all. I wish i was alot taller so the extended seat mass or “integral seat post” will look a lot nicer… :p

    Eric.
