-18F

December 8th, 2009

Passing the bank thermometer this morning it read -18F. Today is suppose to be the last day of the cold snap. They expect 40F by Sunday, after this I won’t even need a jacket in that weather.

I started Mike F’s very large titanium Dirt Road frame yesterday. I should have it done in the next couple of days and up next will be Jim H’s titanium road with S&S couplers. Then I have a steel road for Glenn V. and another titanium road for Lori R. Below is a picture of Mike’s mitered tubeset. I’ll miter the top of the Seatstays and do the trial fit next.

Facebook and Owners Gallery

December 7th, 2009

Most of you know Loretta and I have setup a Facebook page. We are currently feeding this blog as well as our new “Back from Paint” gallery and the “Owners Gallery” to the page. Loretta has also uploaded some galleries of events from the past and will add more as time goes on. We hope to use the Facebook page as a slightly more personal place for Strong Frames, friends and activities. If it’s bike related but not necessarily Strong Frames related, we’ll post it on the Facebook site. We would also like to encourage all of you Strong Frames owners to participate. The Facebook page has been left open so that anyone can add images and post comments. If you have a gallery you’d like to add please feel free. The more participation there is theĀ  more fun it will be. Also, if you have a Strong Frame and would like me to to add it to our “Owners Gallery” on the Strong Frames site please email me with the images and I’ll put them up. Remember we don’t want Studio style shots for the “Owners Gallery” we prefer casual images of the bike in it’s natural surroundings IE in front of you garage door or in you back yard.

Back From Paint

More butted titanium

December 4th, 2009

Here is more of that butted titanium frame I started building Tuesday. I’ll be finishing it up today and sending it off to paint.

Butted titanium road

December 2nd, 2009

I’m working on Eric’s bike right now. It’s a butted titanium road frame. It has a very large (1.75″) bi-oval Downtube, integrated Seatpost (sort of) and I’ll be doing some cool bending on the stays. Eric’s also provided me with a very detail paint job outline that I’ve attached because it’s so cool (hope you don’t mind Eric). Currently I’m working out the fit on the tubes. There will be more images tomorrow.

Upcoming builds

December 1st, 2009

I pretty much finished Chris’s bike yesterday. It still requires machining and QC and then it goes to paint tomorrow. Once back we’ll assemble it and Loretta will take some studio shots so we can add it our main road frame gallery. The next two bikes on the board are Eric W. of Shanghai and Mike F. of IL. I’m still waiting for some tubes to arrive for both and hopefully they will be here today. Normally I’d already have all the material when it’s time to to start building but none of my suppliers have had the material that I needed until just recently so I’ve had to wait.
