Butted titanium road

I’m working on Eric’s bike right now. It’s a butted titanium road frame. It has a very large (1.75″) bi-oval Downtube, integrated Seatpost (sort of) and I’ll be doing some cool bending on the stays. Eric’s also provided me with a very detail paint job outline that I’ve attached because it’s so cool (hope you don’t mind Eric). Currently I’m working out the fit on the tubes. There will be more images tomorrow.

WooHoo! It has…began! :D Thanks for the update, Carl and no worries, you can post the paint design. ;)

    Cheers,
    Eric.

Beautiful paint and parts design. Like the white seat and bar tape with the graphics on the wheels. Well done Sir! Makes me want to paint mine!

    Hi Eric and Carl –
Hey Eric, that 3D rendering is amazing. How did you get all that hallucinatory detail with the parts and logos? Did you make it from scratch in CAD?
    Tim

  4. Carl says:

The customer Eric did it not my apprentice Erik. He really did a detail job didn’t he?

Eric gets extra credit for painting a titanium frame-proof that some people still have taste!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. :)

I did the paint design with Adobe Photoshop. The entire frame geometry is mapped out from Carl’s final CAD drawing. I then paint over it, applying light and shadow for that 3D look. I did over 30 designs to come to this final version. The logos are from Carl’s website… the rest of the parts; white saddle, bar and Spinnergy wheels pix is actually from my current bike set-up… the drivetrain pix are sourced from the internet.

I always do this to “virtually” see how parts and frame will look before i purchase them. (of course, the parts are first selected from their fuctional stand point, not just the looks.)

    Cheers,
    Eric.

Btw… carl’s work is wonderful, i think it deserves that extra attention. :) (not to say others don’t, just that i have too much time on my hands… :p )

    Eric.

Wow. I can’t believe you did that in photoshop.
