Something in black

So this is a little different than most of the stuff that comes out of my fixture. It’s a carbon cross frame. We’ll be making quite a few of these for testing. They’ll be ridden by Jared, me, Erik and Bill. We want to see how our different laminate schedules actually feel on the road…or trail or wherever we end up riding them.  We want to make sure the seat of our pants is consistent with our expectations. You can engineer things until you’re blue in the face but ultimately you need to ride it to understand it at a more subjective level. On the first handful of  frames we’ll be focused on how the different joint laminate schedules we’ve designed will influence perceived front triangle stiffness. Ideally, they’ll do exactly what we expect them to do, let’s hope we’re right.

Are you going to be cross making them out of steel or out of all metals ?

  2. Carl says:

No, we won’t be making mixed material frames unless the customer has a really good reason for it.

  3. Tom says:

Are ther S&S Couplers for carbon frame ?

  4. Jon says:

Are those seatstays and chainstays Strong originals or something OEM? Can’t wait to hear how these test rigs perform.

  5. Carl says:

There is a way to do it but I won’t be offering them.

  6. Carl says:

They are an OEM. I’ll post a report as soon as we have had a chance to get some miles on them.

your part of the frame looks fantastic!

hope you will make your own rear ends to match the front, but hey that is just me…

  8. Bob says:

Will these frames be offered with sloping toptube options or will they all be traditional geometry frames?

  9. Carl says:

They will be full custom so the TT angle is determined during design with input from the customer. In other words, yes.
