Just got this frame back from paint. It’s on it’s way to Rich B in New York. Loretta and I will prep it, shoot some pictures and get it boxed and shipped today.
It’s a Trifecta. Basically the frame is a combination of Reynolds 953 HT, DT and chainstays, carbon ST and TT and titanium SS’s. The idea is to put spring in the “spine” of the frame, the carbon where it’s low weight can be taken advantage of and the titanium in the SS’s for it flexy characteristic. This frame is liquid painted by Spectrum with some really cool saved stays and DT logo and the fork is painted to match.

You did a video at the 2008 NAHBS of a bike that you displayed there. If I remember correctly this is the exact same combination of SS, Ti, and carbon as that bike.
Was that bike the first time you did that combination of materials? Have you arrived at a combination of materials that will give a unique, superior ride and is appropriate for all riders? Or is this combination very expensive and only warranted in special situaitons like for a very large frame?
Hi Dwight, yes this is the same combo that I used in the NAHBS frame. Everyone has different priorities so I won’t say it’s the best combination for everyone or even any type of person, but I do think that it really does a great job of taking advantage of the best attributes of each of the different materials. Also the tube spec’s and choices in this model are still selected based on rider size, weight and goals just as they are for all my custom frames.
